Our History
Stan Robinson Transport was founded
Founder Stan Robinson took the opportunity to buy a second hand four wheeler Commer and the “Stan Robinson story” started.
Early Growth
Stan Robinson moved into the Colwich Station Yard. Stan himself came off the road to manage the business. He acquired Davies Transport along with the Bostik delivery contract, beginning our still longstanding relationship with this customer.
Stafford Head Office Opened
Stan purchased a three acre site with an office, garage and warehouse at Seighford and the business moved into its own premises.
Glasgow Depot
Acquired Peter Laing Carriers in Glasgow complete with vehicles, premises and a customer base. This is where the start of our working relationship with Tunnock Biscuits began.
IT Investment
The number of loads being moved each day had grown exponentially. To aid in managing the operation the business implemented a new IT infrastructure, the Roadrunner Traffic Management System.
Expansion
Two new depots opened, one in Willand Devon and the second in Darlington. This completed the Stan Robinson Pallet network, allowing the business to service the entire country through the four sites.
Haulier of the Year
It was Stan’s ultimate dream to win the 'Haulier of the Year' award, one that he achieved in 1999. It was a very proud occasion for Stan, his family and employees.
Further Development
The Stan Robinson business continued to thrive. The Glasgow Depot moved into new larger premises and new logistics warehouses were built at Devon and Stafford.
MOT Test Centre
Our VOSA Authorised Testing facility was built & opened. Offering a full range of testing for both heavy goods and public service vehicles.
COMAH Warehouse & WMS
A new 18,000 pallet location COMAH warehouse was built at our Stafford site. Alongside this the world leading Red Prairie Warehouse Management solution was implemented.
Accreditations
Stan Robinson achieved accreditation in both ISO:9001 Quality Management and ISO:50001 Energy management systems.
FORS Bronze accreditation achieved at Stafford depot
FORS Bronze accreditation achieved at Darlington Depot.
Implementation of R2C Fleet & Workshop Management Software
The system ensures that electronic daily vehicle checks are linked directly with the maintenance departments and allows us to manage the flow of workshop repairs. It also provides real time visibility of vehicle and trailer servicing and repairs across all four sites and improves our industry compliance.
Trailer Park
Purpose built trailer park built at Stafford with secure parking for 90 trailers.
Solar Panels Installation
A 255 solar panel system is installed on top of the consolidation warehouse at our Stafford depot. The system is expected to generate 81,090 kwh of clean electricity every year and save 17,218 kg CO2 of carbon.
